Wakad is in west Pune but falls under the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). It lies along the Mumbai to Bengaluru highway, between the Hinjewadi IT park and Pimple Saudagar.

Its position next to Hinjewadi makes it a common base for people working in the IT park. Housing is mostly apartment projects, with a large resale and rental market.

Getting around Wakad

• The highway links Wakad to Balewadi and Baner to the south and to the Mumbai to Pune Expressway to the north.
